“Bedroom rock can pretty inaccessible and boring to anyone who isn’t the person who wrote it but Survivalist bridge the gap. Instead of alienating the audience, their soft patchwork of guitar based post-rock meets ambient brings the listener into the fold creating an intimate atmosphere that feels like it was written uniquely for each person.

Survivalist’s new full length ‘Sell it To Science’ feels like a maturing from the already promising ‘Winter Demos’, with two new members added to the original two piece, their sound has become much more textured and thick. The impossibly warm production and attention to detail make the whole album a delightfully smooth-velvet listen. Which is not to say that it’s without dynamic, from the understated, beautiful and genuinely moving The ‘Drake Equation’ to the more lively following mathy track ‘Ghost Yoghurt’; the album seems to do everything and hit the mark each time it bends a genre.

Album closer ‘Well Wishers’ is an amalgamation of everything Survivalist do well, emotional chord progressions, an engaging ambience and a tight complicated guitar riffs.

Survivalist are on tour from June the 5th and it’ll be fascinating to see how their new material plays live.”
